Germany coach Joachim Low today stoked the fire in the hotly anticipated quarter-final clash with underdogs Greece by refusing to give them credit for getting to the knock-out stages.
Low explained his comments at a press conference today "We were expecting to playing host nation Poland, despite their home advantage we have a good record historically in Poland and we wanted to continue this trend. Instead we will play the Greeks. We will be favourites and the Greek players may be unsettled as they didn't expect to get this far - I was told they checked out of their hotels last sunday and couldn't afford to rebook anywhere else - I hear they have been using the couch-slurfer website to find accommodation"
The Greek team refused to acknowledge the German claims today, amid rumours the team manager had overslept at the youth hostel he was staying at. The match takes place this Friday in Gdansk. The Greeks will be the unshaven players wearing blue shirts.
