image for Poor Decision In Pacquio Bradley Bout Reignites Calls For Fights To Be Decided by "Last Man Standing' Only Rule
Maybe Duelling, Not Boxing, Is The Way Ahead?

Timothy Bradley shook the boxing world after a stunning split decision against Manny Pacquiao to win the WBO welterweight title.

Unfortunately Pacquiao appeared to dominate Bradley during the fight at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on Saturday night, but the judges felt otherwise which has reignited the debate as to whether or not the points system in boxing is just not working and that it would be better if boxers thought either until the death or until only one man is left standing.

Proponents of "Last Man Standing" fights say that it is fairer to the fighters, albeit potentially lethal but will ensure that poor decisions, like this one, which was booed by the crowd, will become a thing of the past. Supporters say fights will be more entertaining and it will encourage boxers to be more aggressive, making it a better spectacle for the viewing public,

Opponents site that some fights could last hours, if not days, as in the case of the fight between Alvin Aston and Bobby Christmas last April, which lasted 2465 three minute rounds over a three day period.
