As the transfer window nearly slammed shut today, Man City shocked the world of football today when they offered neighbours Man United old player Carlos Tevez in exchange for Paul Scholes.
Scholes made a successful return to the United team after a six month 'retirement' coming on as sub in the FA Cup 3rd round win over City and scoring at Old Trafford v Bolton.
City now see Scholes experience as invaluable as they chase their first Premier League trophy. Money is no object for City and they can double the wages of gingernut Scholes. Privately, Roberto Mancini is worried the more experienced neighbours can grab the title away from them despite City having been top for most of the season.
It would also bring an end to the Carlos Tevez affair as talks with both Milan clubs and PSG appear to have broke down. In the last two days tabloid frenzy has gone into overdrive with Liverpool and West Ham linked to swap and loan deals for Tevez.
Tevez hasn't played since refusing to 'warm up' in the champions league clash at Bayern Munich. Eric Ericson, a Manchester United fan from London told the spoof last night "Welcome to Manchester Carlos"
