The big boy is on his way to Detroit, thanks to a multi year contract worth well over $200 million. Fans and several snack food vendors appear to be thrilled at the opportunity to see the big man pound hot dogs and homers too, in his new home at Comerica Park.
Following in his father, Cecil Fielder's legacy, Prince will come to Detroit after enjoying a successful career abroad. Cecil returned to the U.S. from the Japanese baseball league, but Prince just had to fly over Lake Michigan to start the second phase of his own career.
"Detroit always likes a big man in the lineup", says sports talk radio host, Mike Bennet, "If for no other reason than to see the man leg out a grounder or try to steal second base once in a while. It's like watching two small children trying to cling to telephone poles during a hurricane".
It is unclear of Prince's role will be limited to designated hitter or if he will continue on at first base. "Those decisions have yet to be made", says Bennet, "but wouldn't it be great to see the man play short stop. There would never be a gap up the middle".
