A war of tweets has broken out after Joey Barton claimed a Twitter account belonging to pop paedophile Gary Glitter should be given a red card.
@Joey7Barton called Gary Glitter a #wrongun and a #diddlediddler and said that the unverified account was a cheap publicity stunt.
"It's a wind up that account. I am telling u. He's just tweeted something at me", said Barton who now has over a million followers.
@OfficialGlitter annoyed @Joey7Barton further by claiming there would be a tour of the UK to promote Gary Glitter's autobiography with venues in Liverpool, Newcastle and Kew Gardens, where Joey now lives.
Gary Glitter continued to provoke Joey Barton, who recently declared himself a pacifist: "I believe the public have accepted me again and i have put my past behind me. I refuse to be lectured to by someone like you", tweeted Glitter.
Several QPR fans got involved in the row after Glam Rock Glitter was called a "paedo nonce and a mate of John Terry" by Billy Snide of East Acton.
"Joey should stub out a cigar in Gary Glitter's eye and chop his dick off with a machete" tweeted Snide.
Gary Glitter was trending on Twitter most of yesterday, which seemed appropriate now that the networking medium is six years old.
"I have picked up thousands of followers today just by getting retweeted by Joey Barton" said @OfficialGlitter.
Football pundit Ray Wilkins was also dragged into the debate and commented via his official Way Rilkins Twitter account.
"My word, Joey Barton and Gary Glitter arguing? Very unpleasant. He should be banned from Twitter. And Gary is a bit of a cunt too", tweeted Ray.
