Fanatical Burnley FC supporter, Tommy Dobson sparked outrage today when he he described fans of fierce local rivals, Blackburn Rovers, as: "Stupid bastards."
The remark was sparked by Sky TV coverage of the Blackburn Rovers v Bolton Wanderers relegation battle at Ewood Park. Rovers fans could be heard booing their team throughout the encounter, and directing a torrent of personal abuse at manager, Steve Kean.
The level of abuse increased markedly as the first half saw Blackburn fall two goals behind, and despite a second half Rovers rally where they pulled a goal back, it took an army of stewards to prevent furious, and - it must be said - rather daft looking Rovers fans from encroaching onto the playing area.
Burnley fan, Dobson, said that in his opinion, no matter how hopelessly inept the manager of a club may be, there are better ways of expressing dissatisfaction than booing the manager and the players during the course of a game.
"It's a bloody disgrace is that," he told a local radio station. "You wouldn't get that at Man United or Liverpool - they'd never boo the team during a match, and if they have a problem with the manager, or the directors, owners, whoever - they'd protest, but they'd cheer the team on during the match itself. Same at Burnley. I'm not so sure about Chelsea or Arsenal, load of sodding hooray Henrys if you ask me, but Bastard Rovers fans are a bloody disgrace. Wankers - every man jack of 'em. Especially that Jack Straw."
More as we get it.
