Over the moon Spurs boss, 'Happy' Harry Redknapp, basked in the glow of reflected glory this afternoon as Spurs hammered nine man Liverpool 4-0, with goals from Modric, Defoe, and a brace from Adebayor.
It was a well deserved victory, as the White Hart Lane boys set about their Scouse counterparts with a lively sense of purpose. Spurs swarmed over the men in red, often to devastating effect as they repeatedly dismantled the Liverpool defence.
Liverpool's frustration became all too evident, as Charlie Adam, and then Skrtel (The tattooed hatchet man) were red carded, reducing a hopeless situation into one of forlorn desperation.
Spurs, with their crisp and accurate passing, reduced Liverpool - who failed to muster a single shot on target - to rubble.
Speaking after the game, Harry Redknapp attributed his team's sterling performance to a secret motivational training aid, which had been applied throughout the week.
"I'm delighted with the win," Redknapp told the press. "They ain't no mugs, them Mickeys, but we made proper monkeys out of 'em this afternoon."
So what exactly was Harry's secret motivational tool?
"Oh, that," Harry told reporters. "I was lookin' on the net, lookin' to dish some dirt on the Arse, when I found this book on Amazon. 'The Dorking Review' it was called. So I bought the lads a copy. Bladdy rubbish it is - so I told the lads that if they didn't give it 190% this afternoon, they'd end up like the sad chancers who cobbled this crap book together. Say what you like about my lads, mate - they ain't losers. Not like them wot writ that book. And they proved it today."
The Dorking Review?
What's that all about?
Sounds like a tissue of lies to this reporter.
More as we get it.
