According to a recent study, following couples from 1898 to 2011, reports that after marriage women gain an average of 19 pounds within the first year.
Some say that this study comes as no shock. One reader explains that "women exist to get married. They've got to look hot to get married, but once their married, they just lose it".
This same study shows that after divorce men tend to gain some more pounds whereas women lose the weight from marriage. The same reader tells "Once the woman isn't married anymore she loses weight so that she can trick another guy into marrying her".
Although his theory explains the fluctuation of weight in women it does not hint at an explanation for men.
