Stand by for a premature birth! There's a rumor that the BlackBerry computer tablet (the expected name is BlackPad, although it could possibly be SurfBook) will be presented next week in San Francisco at a Research in Motion (that's the BlackBerry company) developer conference.
Since the arrival of the new tablet was not expected until November, the techno world was caught by surprise. As a preemie, the tablet may require special care. Hopefully it won't have to spend too much time in an incubator.
All the details of the debut are not known, but Spoof reporter Gail Farrelly was able to find out that the background music for the presentation will be Ella Fitzgerald's recording of "That Old Black Magic" (music by Harold Arlen and words by Johnny Mercer). Black jellybeans in little black velvet bags will be distributed to all attendees as remembrances of the special day.
Apple iPads are totally dismissive of their newest competitors. An iPad spokesperson, Ida iPad, who agreed to a brief interview while she watched Judge Judy on TV, said, "Who gives a rat's ass whether this thing comes EARLY or not? It's already late. We, after all, were announced last January and have been on sale since April. Isn't it the early bird that gets the worm?"
Is Ida right? Stay tuned to find out.
