Ambassador Middendork's treasured alien artefact just a lump of petrified Bush crap

Amsterdam - (Dark Side of the Moon Mess): A lump of petrified wood sourced to some paranoid Texan Bushes and billed as a genuine moonrock was given to Dutch PM Willem Drees by the Apollo-11 landing fakers.

The alien artefact was found near the Buzz Aldrin Lunar Monolith in the Sea of Tranquility and caused quite a stir in the space program community.

This week however the curator of Holland's Rijksmuseum admitted it was just an ancient quercus cannabiscuit Stone Oak or possibly carpinus erectus Hornbeam nut.

Valued at over $500,000 the hoax NASA lump became the inspiration behind an Italian candy manufacturer's 'Ooh Mr Ambassador with these Ferrero Rocher you are spoiling us!' TV ad campaign.

The museum's attribution of 'With the compliments of the Ambassador of the United States of America J William Middendork* II' has now been removed and replaced with a NASA Alien Artefacts Department online address.

*A midden is an ancient term for a dump for domestic waste, typically feces, regurgitated food and vermin-related matter. A dork typically refers to an Australasian snapper fish or a useless appendage sometimes mistaken for a phallus.
