Sputnikaberg, Russia (IP) - The Van Allen radiation belts were discovered by one of the Explorer series of space craft launched during the International Geophysical Year of 1958.
Now scientists have announced another discovery recently noticed upon review of the old data. The amazing discovery is the finding of the Gucci belt in geostationary orbit over Italy.
Russian space scientist Dr. Povemirov Finoothkovsky first spotted an odd object shaped like a belt buckle. He subjected the old images to modern computerized enhancement techniques and discovered the outline of an Italian leather belt extending from the "G" shaped belt buckle and could clearly make out the words, "Gucci, manufactured in Italia size 44."
Russian scientists considered sending a space craft to retrieve the belt but were talked out of it by Italian scientists who wish to remain anonymous.
