Health experts are calling for boxer shorts to be banned amid claims they cause the painful condition known as 'conker balls.'
Unlike traditional underpants which snugly support the male gonads, boxer short allows the testicle to swing freely which can cause adverse stretching of the scrotal sac.
The condition can also lead to complications such as 'buffed knee.'
Dr Virgil Maplebury of the Institute of Underpant Safety said some patients have been so badly affected they have had to resort to use of specially made 'ball brassieres.'
'This has become a serious problem and some men out there are desperate,' he explained.
'Boxer shorts should carry a health warning, or a fine silk gusset to support the scrotum which might be adjusted by means of a stout cord or leather thong'
