Mexico City, Meheecoe (IP) - Scientists investigating numerous reports of UFO fly overs in Mexico have come to the conclusion that the Mexican sombrero is nothing more than a replica of a type of UFO commonly seen in this part of the world. They also have discovered that the badge also originated in Mexico.
Years ago it was routine for flying saucers to land in Mexico and the aliens interacted with the locals, quickly learned Spanish, and began doing business with the Mexicans on a regular basis. One day a boy name Pedro Infante realized that the flying saucers were casting shadows as they hovered over head and the shade this caused created a pleasant cool feeling. Pedro immediately fashioned a flying saucer shaped hat which quickly became the rage throughout the entire country.
As for the badge issue, well that is another matter which did not turn out so pleasant. It was an alien custom to give shiny badge shaped objects as gifts to their hosts. The Mexicans had had nothing but bad experiences with the gringos who stood guard at the Texan border and these hombres wore shiny metallic objects which had a striking resemblance to the shiny gifts handed out by the space aliens.
The ultimate insult that could befall a space alien was the rejection of their shiny metal gift by anyone to whom they might have offered it to. One day an alien offered a Mexican one of the shiny gifts and the Mexican pushed the aliens hand to the side and shouted out, "WE DON'T NEED NO STINKIN BADGES !" and instantly all hell broke loose.
The alien shouted out, "Vamonos amigos!" to his compatriots and they never came back with any intention of landing. They just fly back and forth over the Mexican country side for the heck of it.
