It's all in the stars

London - (Rioters): Comet McNaught, the baleful cosmic visitor crossing the northern January skies, has been blamed for a technical glitch that is playing havoc with satirical website The Spoof!'s star-system.

This records the number of cosmic visitors to the galactic comedy site and keeps score with the constellation's stellar writers, some of whom are rumored to be exiles from rival celestial bodies such as the Crabs Nebula. No names mentioned.

A spokesman for the site was unable to confirm or deny whether the glitch might be connected in some way to the much vaunted Son of Star Wars strategic defense initiative.

However astronomers at the UK's National Bullying Helpline Observatory have recorded strange nocturnal emissions coming from the vicinity of Comet McNaught as its trajectory crosses the line reserved for stitching up Global Piss Process Luminaries and has-been celebs.

"I blame the Chinese for shooting down that satellite", moaned one seasoned old web-hack whose star-crossed popularity has been affected by the glitch.

The glitch is expected to be repaired by Burns Night next week.
