Some of the students in one of Dr. Horowitz's biology class.

CARPINTERIA, California - The faculty at Left Coast College located in Carpinteria, California is thrilled at having just learned that the United States government has agreed to provide them with a $17.3 million grant.

The grant is being provided in order for the college to study the little known mating habits of the hummingbird.

Biology professor Dr. Yardley P. Horowitz told the news media that he has personally been striving to get this grant approved since back in November of 2004.

He noted that at first the government said that they could only provide $1.8 million.

But after he showed a government representative the amazing scientific benefits of the study they agreed to tack on an extra $15.5 million.

SIDENOTE: Vice-President Joe Biden personally called up Dr. Horowitz and informed him of the $17.3 million grant.
