HANNIBAL, Missouri - Elmo Tuggletint, 53, has been raising egg-laying hens for over 30 years and in that time he has seen some very interesting things.
He recalls back in October of 1994, seeing one of his prized chickens, Linda Lou, lay an amazing four eggs in 85 seconds.
Another time he saw a young hen named Lolita jump up on his bloodhound Bucky and the chicken spent all day on top of the friendly dog.
But Elmo's latest feat is one for the books. For the past 11 months, he has been experimenting with ten of his smartest chickens.
He proudly boasts that he has succeeded in training all ten to lay their eggs in a standard styrofoam egg carton.
Elmo pointed out that this little feat eliminates him having to get the eggs from the nest and then having to physically put them in the egg cartons.
SIDENOTE: Elmo Tuggletint has been asked what the secret to his feat is and all he will say is that it involves some fantastic brain and egg orifice coordination.
