Seeing someone wearing a big tie makes us feel more emotional, according to researchers at Tarzarus University.
Dr Fashun Guru got 10 blokes to wear ties of different sizes. Another 25 volunteers were asked to interact with them. Most people hardly noticed the blokes with little ties, but some of the big-tie guys had them fuming.
Several of the large ties had rude words on them - which might have influenced their responses. And the guy wearing the longest tie tripped over and accidentally head-butted one of the volunteers.
A few guys with little ties watched from a distance as fighting broke out afterwards.
Dr Guru's advice to tie-wearers: "If you like wearing big ties, be aware of the emotional after-effects in onlookers. Choose your victims carefully."
