A new applelet for the Apple iPhone is now ready for pub game lovers called iAm.
"I love this game," said App World! editor, Mac Buck. "It's so simple, and yet it's so much fun to play."
The game requires all the competitors to have an iPhone, but as people with iPhones no longer mingle with people without iPhones, this isn't an issue.
"Everybody loads the app on their phone, and it communicates with each off the phones and assigns a animal, object or person to each phone. When the accelerometer detects that it's on the player's forehead facing out, it displays the word that the competitor has to guess by asking questions of the other players."
Each player takes turns in guessing the word on their forehead that everybody else can see.
"I've not had so much fun for weeks," said Buck. "Admittedly, I was on my own and had to play with a mirror, but it was fun, nevertheless."
The app uses Siri's voice recognition for when people guess what's on their head, and can detect when the phone is removed from the head, should the player need to take a bathroom break, answer a call, or try and cheat. During this time, the word is hidden.
"You can't cheat," said Buck. "Except with a mirror. I hope they release a version that uses the camera to detect if you're looking in a mirror. Although that would curtail the one player mode, it would improve the fun in pubs."
