The perfect applelet for the loan woman, or the student separated from their friends in a far away city has finally been released after several months in development.
MyWay have released iScream to much fanfare.
"I am in awe of this app," said App World! editor, Mac Buck. "The phone senses it is attempting to be stolen it emits a loud, piercing shriek."
The main problems MyWay have struggled with is for the app to tell the difference between being picked up and being stolen.
"In the early versions," said May Wye, CEO of MyWay, "the phone running the app would go off randomly. Spotting the tell tale signature of theft is hard."
Mac Buck now his hands on the finished article.
"As usual with MyWay apps, it's indispensable," said Buck. "They've got three versions, or flavours of the app. There's the out of the box, or vanilla, iScream, with the standard options set that just shrieks when stolen."
Minted is a paid for flavour of iScream, but will keep track of where it is, should the thief disable the shriek. Further up the pay scale is Chocolate, which costs a lot more, but will disable the phone, ring the police, text it's location to the nearest metre ever hour on the hour and electrocute the thief every time it is attempted to be switched off.
"I'm currently using the vanilla flavour iScream," said Buck. "But I'm tempted by Chocolate. I like the idea of the thief being electrocuted."
