Music For Aliens

Arecibo, Puerto Rico-- The SETI Project (Search for Extra Terrestrial Intelligence) has begun beaming classic rock music into Outer Space. SETI project managers are hoping aliens will like the music and respond. They have already transmitted the Beatles's 'Sgt Pepper' album and Pink Floyd's 'Dark Side of the Moon'. The managers promise to never send any music from Justin Bieber or Lady Gaga.

The SETI Project used to beam things like prime numbers and arithmetic algorithms into space. The managers decided that mathematics was too boring and nerdish. Someone got the idea to send some great music instead.

"Music is the universal language--not mathematics." said noted astronomer Dr. Karl Saygun. "Why would space aliens travel bbbbillions and bbbbillions of miles to discuss prime numbers?"

Managers at the SETI Project will also send music by the Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin and the Grateful Dead, beginning next week.

"All this music explains everything space aliens need to know about the human race." said Dr. Saygun "We don't intend to send any music by Jusin Bieber--we don't want the aliens to attack us!"
