image for What's the matter with Mike Hunt? The MFI dresser

This is almost a real letter received at the DIY SOS team HQ.

Dear DIY SOS, I hope you can help me. My name is Jane Hunt and I have a useless husband called Mike.

I have a really simple job that desperately needs doing and I'm afraid that my man is not quite up to the task. Therefore I need your help.

Almost a year ago I purchased a nice bedroom dresser from MFI during their closing down sale. It was a real bargain.

I really need to organise my bedroom so this was just the job.

The problem is getting my husband to assemble it. The first time I asked him to get it up in the bedroom he said he couldn't manage it because the wallpaper had to come off first because of a problem with condensation.

No matter what I said he still won't get it up. I've even offered to get his tool kit out for him. Eventually I asked my twin sister for help.

My sister loves DIY and loves tools of any kind. I told him that my sister was coming. I hoped this would give him the jump start he needed to get going. You would think that the thought of my sister giving him a helping hand in the bedroom would have been all the encouragement he needed to get it up, but alas no.

In the end I stripped the wallpaper myself. I now have a damp patch and a hole that needs filling.

I really can't wait any longer. I'm desperate, can you help?

Yours sincerely

Jane Hunt
