But not an ounce of brain put in
Great lines written by the visionary poet PT Koleridge seem so apt for Mr. SM Krishna, as a foreign news website refers him, 'the incompetent foreign minister of India'.
Well, here is a flashback for those who missed the petty news. SM Krishna, erroneously picked up a wrong speech at a private little tea party, the UN Security Council meeting. That is all.
It's not as bad as it may appear. At least he realised he was on a wrong track after India's envoy to UN Mr. Hardeep Singh Puri intervened him. Mr. Puri pointed out that he read out the speech of a Portuguese minister. That is the hard part about 'realizations'. They do not come all by themselves. A Puri is always needed for a Krishna. After all being a foreign minister is a big gun and to stress their own common sense is a menial job to do which, is a taboo.
The minister of one among the highest portfolios, of a country which aspires to be a super power, making such a minuscule mistake is not even worth mentioning. But still a reader of an online magazine went to the extent of commenting that the incident was "another proof of dishwasher tried as cook." The commenter needs to know that Mr. Krishna merely spoke for three minutes in which he could not have uttered more than 1500 words. The importance of a thousand words in a tea party like UN Security Council meeting is not even worth noticing.
SM Krishna did what could possibly be the most humble thing on this earth. He overlooked the mistake and moved on with his goal of creating a developed India. By the by no one has a right to blame an old man who was just out of a hotel room. On living expense of only Rs. 1 lakh a day that too on tax payers' money how is a man supposed to focus on some ordinary speech and not on the distracting hotel room and its luxuries.
The only person who should be blamed on in this issue is the Portugal minister who had already spoken before SM KRishna. Did he not even once think of preparing some attention grabbing speech? Because if he had done so Mr. Krishna would have taken interest in his speech and known that he the speech which he was delivering is not a fresh one.
Similar incident happened in 2009 when the Irish Prime Minister Brian Cowen was a few paragraphs into an address at the White House when he realized that he was repeating the speech Barack Obama had just given. The only things different were there was so counterpart of Mr. Puri. Cowen was listening to Obama and he himself realised that he wasn't delivering his own speech and that it was a big deal.
