image for Walter Mitty: The truth at last: Part 2 Took when I was shopping in Washington DC

I jumped the gun a bit in the last chapter. I should of mentioned what happened to me in the 1950s when I was 15yrs old. It was a tempestuous time.

I was in Washington in 1951 doing a bit of shopping when I bumped into this bloke at the bus stop. He looked a bit tired so I asked him what was wrong. He said he had been up all night thinking about the Japanese. I told him it was about time someone ended the war for good. The next day, President Truman ends the war with Japan. I didnt know it was Truman I was talking to.

At my aunties house in Moscow 1953, I was doing a bit of gardening for her, when the bloke next door comes out to prune his roses. I said to my auntie, her neighbour looked like he was on his last legs. Course, the next day, hes gone. How was I to know it was Stalin?

1955 while visiting friends in America, I was standing at a pedestrian crossing when this car comes roaring up and skids to a stop. I lent in the drivers window and said; "You wanna slow down mate". Course, he races off.

Next day James Dean is dead. How was I to know it was him.

I went on holiday to Cuba and while having a swim in the sea this bloke wiv a beard comes up to me an says hes thinking about becoming a politician. I says you need a country first mate and an army to help you out.

Next day, Fidel Castro becomes dictator of Cuba.

I wish I had kept my mouth shut.

In the next chapter, I will tell the truth about how I lived in the 60s and 70s.

The story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
