In USA, it was Henry David Thoreau, the author of Walden, who believed in 'civil disobedience' to repugnant laws. On the other hand, 1400 years ago, in Middle East, a civilized nation fell victim to some ferocious barbarians. The nation lost her independence and identity, but, hopelessly, resorted to civil disobedience to regain her sovereignty. In their struggle up to now, a great majority of them have unconsciously pursued the attitude of civil disobedience. Sadly, in their struggle, they have earned themselves the epithet of practiced liars and fraudulence. They, even now, easily back away from their promises. They are not known as patriots. Of course, there are some exceptions.
Now when it comes to driving, no wonder if they suffer an annual traffic fatality of 300,000. Their motor vehicles and motorbikes drive in any direction, including pavements. Due to lack of parking lots or spaces, they park along the streets and on sidewalks thus forcing pedestrians to use the thoroughfare, and get hit by speeding cars. The motorbike operators either do not wear helmets or hang it from handlebars to be worn when they see the corrupt-to-the core traffic agents. Ironically, they are governed by a stooge government which has no acceptable public credit-a government that is internationally recognized as practiced liars.
When it comes to other daily matters of life, the same attitude takes a different shape. For instance, at a so-called supermarket that sells synthetic cheese, hydrogenated vegetable oil shortening as organic butter, synthetic milk traced with Chinese style Melamine as subsidized milk, we might be observant to the following scene:
Here comes a young female dressed in a tight black nit tunic, tight genes and high boots, wearing expensive perfume, followed by a bagboy. The old and the young, female or male, all stare at her. Nobody, objects to her non-standard way of dressing. Having finished her shopping, she patiently walks up the stairs. All eyes, including men, follow her as she enticingly climbs up the stairs. a memorable picturesque scene that defies the criminal-turned chastity police who might, at any moment, show up to arrest her and take her to undisclosed compounds to be gang raped in the name of their sacred cult ideology.
She is young, probably newlywed. Her husband? Possibly an illiterate boy financed by his rich businessman daddy. She, young and vulnerable, is seeking attention and admiration. She never understands the connotations of men's lusty eyes. But she, on her own, has defied the imposed code of dressing. She is tacitly admired by all present. She is, in fact, a living icon of civil disobedience!
