Recently, a reporter for the Financial Times of London received a lot of criticism for suggesting that some sort of world government is needed to really solve the problem of global climate change.
This reporter was commissioned to conduct a survey of public opinion on the topic of world government. The first person interviewed was John Q. Public, from the United States.
Ken: John, how do you feel about the U.S. Constitution, the Bill of Rights and democracy in the United States?
John: Best form of government ever invented.
Ken: How would you feel if every country in the world adopted a similar form of government.
John: It would be the greatest thing that ever happened.
Ken: How would you feel if all the nations of the world joined together to form a democratic world government - a United States of the World?
John: What!?! That's the most horrible idea I have ever heard. How can you even suggest...
Ken: Look at the possibilities. We could end war and maybe solve some of the global problems we are facing. It may be our only option if we want to survive as a planet. We all live together in this one world, don't we?
John: Don't EVER use that word in my presence. Conspiracy!! Mildred, he used the "one" word! Begone, Satan!!
The other interviews did not go as well. In his last effort, Ken was run out of the house at gunpoint, and shot in the leg.
All over the internet, the Spoof reporter was vilified for using the word "one" to describe our planet. From his hospital bed, Ken admitted, "I did go a bit too far, I guess."
