Slow Cookers, whilst excellent at cooking good food, can also be used for many other things.
With a little know-how and a bit of imagination, a slow cooker can have a multitude of uses.
It's all very well simply using your Slow Cooker to create your favourite hot-pot, or if you are a more experienced slow chef a super fresh slow roast chicken, but to maximise the benefits of having multiple slow cookers, new ideas are required.
For example: if you are suffering from a touch of the common cold, or more seriously a severe case of man-flu, then a slow cooker can be a very handy appliance to have to hand.
Simply part fill your slow cooker with tap water, turn the slow cooker on, with the temperature set to maximum (the ONLY time you should do this) and, with the lid on, wait for the water to get hot.
Once the desired temperature is reached, probably after a day or two even at the highest temperature setting, remove the lid, hold your head over the steaming slow cooker and cover both your head and the slow cooker with a large tea towel.
Be careful not to touch the water with your nose, and do not be tempted to try to drink the water, as it will be fairly hot.
For Example: if you cannot afford a sauna, or if you simply think you do not have the room, then think again!!
Place your slow cooker in the corner of your bathroom, or any other room you wish to turn into a sauna (remembering that bathrooms normally work best as they are the most waterproof).
You may have to use an extension lead, as not many bathrooms have plug sockets for some unfathomable reason, to be able to place the slow cooker in the desired position.
Fill the slow cooker with water and place on the lid, very much the same as the man-flu steamer method.
Keep the bathroom door closed and remove the lid from the slow cooker.
As you are in the comfort of your own home, feel free to remove any clothes that you fell comfortable removing.
After several hours you should start to notice the room turning into a top-notch budget sauna.
There is, however, no need to throw any additional water onto your slow sauna, unless you want that 'super-slow' experience.
For Example: Now the cold nights are closing in, everyone likes a nice warm bed, but not everyone has a hot water bottle or an electric blanket.
Filling your slow cooker with water and placing it between your sheets, or duvet if this is your preference, and the mattress makes a perfect alternative.
You do, however, need to plan ahead for this as you need to keep your eye on the long range weather forecast and turn the slow cooker on sometime in June in order to reach the optimium temperature in November.
