Hollywood -- Conan O'Brien lost his dream job at the Tonight Show, in what can only be called a major blunder by the executives at NBC, and after taking some time off to recharge, he is finally opening up to UWGB-Beek.
His new show will air on TBS starting November 8, 2010. It will just be called "Conan."
How are you doing? I am doing alright. I can say that I wasn't expecting all the support I received. Where were they when my show was on the air?
Do you feel NBC didn't give you enough time?I can't really say anything about that, but I can tell you this story about a company that fired this really talented guy, because they didn't give him enough time to develop his show. The show might have become a success after a couple of years, or might have lost ratings because the show on at ten was so bad people were turning the channel to something else and not turning it back to my show, oh, I mean the guy's show.
Do you think Jay Leno's show at ten is the real reason your ratings weren't that good? I can't say anything about that, but maybe see the prior story I just gave you.
Do you find joy in seeing the Tonight Show do so poorly? No, I really don't, but I do think Americans are finally discovering that David Letterman is funnier than Jay Leno. I can finally say David is funnier than Jay because I don't work for NBC.
Jay Leno isn't funny?Did you ever watch his show? I mean I could put a monkey in a suit and have him try to act like Rodney Dangerfield and that would be funnier. Hey, wait, if you see a monkey in a suit on my new show, please don't think we are making fun of Jay Leno.
What do you think about your new show that will air on TBS? I think you will love it.
Can you give us more?It will make you laugh.
Don't you want to give us a teaser? You won't get tackled for watching it.
Thank you for your time. No, thank you.
