Wanna See Mike Tyson In Leather Lederhosen?
Admittedly, you might not wake from a deep sleep with that particular image in the forefront of your mind. But, once you actually see it, it'll haunt your dreams.
Former Whose Line Is It Anyway alum Wayne Brady has posted his latest "I'm still relevant" video on Funny or Die. And, while the premise is tepidly-funny, like most of Wayne Brady's humor, it is the execution of same that is memorable.
Using some premise I've already forgotten, Wayne Brady has a dream that he and Mike Tyson remake Bobby Brown-Houston's 1980's video Every Little Step.
And that is f--king hilarious.
You'd imagine an athlete like Mike Tyson could apply his physical prowess to anything. Well, dancing ain't his strong suit. He kinda looks like my grandfather moshing to a Faith No More song at my wedding. You can tell that he recognizes the beat, but his arms and legs betray his desire to move them to the beat.
And since Tyson must be 5' 10", 275, and wearing exactly what Bobby wore in the video, the hapless flailing is done mostly in leather lederhosen.
Holy f--k. The 1985 version of Mike Tyson would've beat the sh-t out of me for even suggesting such a video. How the burly have fallen.
There is another sad moment in the video, but you might not recognize it right away. Bobby Brown is actually in it. Well, I think it's Bobby Brown. 3/4ths of the way through, a corpulent 40ish man appears, shirtless, to lip-sync Bobby's mid-song rap.
A quick pause, and: Christ, it is Bobby Brown.
Of course, I had to Google the original video, and I was flabbergasted. Bobby Brown couldn't have weighed 110 pounds back then. The Bobby Brown in Wayne Brady's video was easily twice that.
The passage of time is a bitch. The painful fact that we can compare the 2010 versions of these 80s icons with Youtube videos of them in their prime makes it all the more painfully poignant.
Wanna See Mike Tyson In Leather Lederhosen? Don't. Remember him as he was.
