image for The Dog That Talked Always a great conversationalist

The Dog That Talked

It really was a miracle
I just stood and gawped
Left paralysed and speechless
When I met the dog that talked

He asked me many questions
For hours we just walked
A scholar, statesman, acrobat
He was the dog that talked

Times were hard, I saw my chance,
This novelty I hawked,
Customers would queue for miles,
To pat the dog that talked!

After we were married,
My family were so shock'd,
They said it wasn't natural,
To shag a dog that talk'd

We rode the storm, and saw it through,
The people tho', just gawked,
They never understood my love,
For the 'superdog' that talked

Then one day, disaster
My doggy's jaw it locked
It was the end, and from that day
My mate, he never talked

Saddled with this misfit
Our relationship had rocked
I took a rope, strung him up,
Then ate the dog that talked

Now my life is empty,
My Champagne bottle's 'corked',
I wish that I could have him back,
I miss the dog that talked.
