A fisherman and his crew set sail from the coast of Gibralter in the early evening on the 1st June 2009. Heading off for a night time fishing expedition, spirits were high as The Rock dissapeared into the mist behind them.
Suddenly, without warning there was a loud bang followed by a deep scraping sound.
'We've run aground' the captians shouted. The crew, mainly comprising of tourists, headed toward the stern of the ship. Then once again the loud scraping sound filled the air and the boat started to rock from side to side. Now panicking, the passengers demanded to know what was going on as running aground in the middle of the sea seemed very unlikely.
Before the captain had chance to respond the boat started tipping up until it was almost vertical. Most of the passengers were clinging onto whatever they could but it was too much for the captian, falling off the ship and straight into the icy cold waters. As he tried to regain his composure he noticced teh water beginning to swell around him and he knew something was very wrong. Then seemingly out of nowhere an enormous open mouth encircled the terrified captain slowly closign and swallowing him whole.
The passengers on the ship didn;t want to hang around to end up being the 2nd course and took charge of the vessel, spinning the ships wheel and pointing them back towards they came from. Eventually finding their way back to Gibralter they were met on the jetty by non other than the captians wife.
The passengers began to explain what had happened but she was already well aware of exaclty what had gone on only 45 minutes before. When she was asked how she knew, she pulled out her mobile phone and said 'He called me not 10 minutes ago from inside the bastard!'
Before she finished explaining what he had told her from within, another fishng vessel emerged from the mist towing a monsterously sized white whale. The captain was in the area and had heard what had happened over the radio. Owning a whaling ship himself he went straight after it, racing to keep the captian from being digested.
The quickly strung the whale up on and slit it's sides open, spilling the giant mamals guts all over the jetty. In the middle of the fishy slop was the captian. Very shaken and slightly confused the man was helped to his feet by his wife and passengers and was eventually taken to hospital suffering from shock. He later made a full recovery and is still sailing the seas today.
