image for April Fool's Day! grr - you caught me out with your spoof story!

Happy April Fool's Day to all The Spoof! readers

Did you notice the tricks we played on you to celebrate April Fool's Day this year? Have a look through the articles on the main pages of TheSpoof.com and I'm sure you will notice that all is not as it first appears.

Found the April Fool's stories? They are mixed up with all the others, but you will probably be able to pick them out if you check through them carefully.

If you read a story on TheSpoof.com and think 'hang on a minute, that's a bit strange', you could well be looking at one of our cleverly crafted April Fool's joke articles. We call them Spoofs, because they are like real newspaper stories but in fact we have made them up!

Did you notice the story about April Fool's day being brought forward to March 19th to allow alignment with the old Julian Calendar? Well that one was true, hence our celebrations today. It happened originally in Bulgaria in 1916 when changing from the Julian to the Gregorian Calendar. March 18th was followed that year by April 1st. When Bulgaria joined the European Union in 2007, one of their stipulations was that April Fool's Day would be re-established on its traditional date of March 19th.

So as you celebrate April Fool's Day today, spare a thought for other, less progressive parts of the world where the date has yet to be rescheduled. Think how foolish they will feel when they find out what has happened.

The story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
