image for Sarah Palin Invites President Bush To Alaska Sarah Palin (circa 1989)

I recently had the distinct honor of having a one-on-one interview with Sarah Palin. I asked her about her infatuation with hunting. She replied, "You know, B.Z. ever since I was a little girl, I have just always preferred blasting defenseless animals whether they were moose, caribou, elk, cute little rabbits, harmless little squirrels, or innocent beavers, ah, let's make that woodchucks.

In fact, to be perfectly honest, as a little girl I really did not enjoy playing with dolls, I would much rather pick up my high-powered telescopic rifle, head out to the deep woods, and shoot the heck out of some critter.

Now, I know it might not sound lady-like, but I guess I've always just preferred the challenge of 'me against some animal' to vacuuming, ironing, or doing the dishes."

I then told Mrs. Palin that I had heard that she had invited President Bush to go hunting with her up in her home state. Sarah giggled and replied, "Yes, it's a fact, I did invite the president to go hunting with me." She laughed and added, "Let me tell you B.Z. George said that he would gladly accept my offer on one condition. He said that he would go as long as I did not invite Dick (Cheney).

He then told me that he liked Cheney a lot but that he did not want to be anywhere near that old fella with a rifle in his hands." I asked him "Why not?" And he told me because a year and a half ago he shot Harry (Whittington) while quail hunting down in south Texas."

George grinned and said, "Heck if he shot someone while hunting for a little bitty old bird can you just imagine the damage that good old boy could do while hunting for a big old gigantic moose? No sir, no way, no how, no McCain." He laughed and apologized about the McCain remark saying that it was just the Crawford (Texas) humor in him.

In the middle of our interview Sarah got a phone call and had to leave immediately to go and pick up a new moose call whistle that she had recently ordered at Radio Shack.
