I just move into new home in Southern CA. It's a "Leave it to Beaver" type of community. As usual, the first thing I try to do when I move into a place is meet the neighbors.

The neighbor across the street has several cars in his driveway and on the street. They were all in various stages of auto body repair. The man was working on one of the cars in his garage. I approached and introduced myself. After we exchanged a few pleasantries I asked him if he was running an auto body shop out of his home.

"Nope", came the one word reply. I looked around at the cars, the paint, the replacement fenders, the bondo, the torches, etc. I did not question him further.

"Have a great day!" I said as I wandered off.

Three doors down I met another neighbor and again I introduced myself. This man had a few cars also but this time he was doing mechanical repairs.

"Are you running a garage here?" I asked.

"Nope. Just do this for kicks, not for pay", he replied. At least he gave me some sort of feeble explanation.

The next day I saw the man next door to me washing his car. He told me he worked for the government.

"What do you do for the government", I asked innocently.

He gave me a suspicious look. "It's defense related. I can't tell you anything else", he relied.

"Nothing too dangerous I hope!" came my friendly reply.

"Well, not yet", he said. He didn't even seem like he was joking.

I suppose if I go out for a beer with these guys they will spill their secrets to me. But for the time being I am enjoying the mystery.

I told all of them what I did for a living. I even told Mr Secret Government guy that I will be taking frequent nude baths in my outdoor Jacuzzi. "I won't peek over the fence" he promised.

I guess that will be MY secret.

The story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
