London - (Rotters): Bill Clinton has told a packed London audience that he dreads the day when wife Hillary becomes President "and then plays a blinder" by appointing him as US ambassador to Iraq "to get even for that Monica Lewinski business."

Clinton told UK TV news:

"What Hillary has said, is that if she were elected she'd send me out there. On a one-way ticket.

"I'm kinda undecided about this at the moment.

"For one thing I can't see this policy would appeal to 'ordinary Americans in the heartlands'.

"I'm worried, too, about the effect of that enraging the world.

"And at the very moment when I've got a reasonable chance of getting the White House chief-of-staff position, interviewing and appointing interns.

"Do ya get my drift?

"What's really needed is for me to restore my image.

"Maybe she'll soften a little. Just enough to get me my toehold again.

"That's why I'm here in London promoting her new book Giving: How Each of Us Can Give As Good As We Get.

"God bless ya all and pray for me."
