I wonder---------Does God laugh?

As I lay in bed a few nights ago and after I said my prayers, I do what I expect a lot of folks my age do, I wondered about heaven and about God. At eighty, not a bad time to start, right? Like, are there really a heaven and an afterlife? What's it like? Will they all be there? I heard once that a person asked a theologian if there were dogs in heaven. The theologian answered, "If t...here are no dogs in heaven, there is no heaven!" Sounds good to me.

And then I thought, "I wonder if god ever laughs?" I don't mean a laugh that is at the expenses of others, nor one that is sarcastic and mean. You know a real laugh, a chuckle maybe, or a smile. I am wondering, if there isn't a laugh or a chuckle or a smile in heaven. Is there really a heaven? I choose to believe hat there are all those things, and yes, God does laugh.

I wonder if when I get there and I meet God, what will he be like? Will he be dressed in a long robe? Maybe instead, he will be dressed in jeans, a polo shirt, and loafers? Will he be stern and judgmental, or will he say, "Hey dude, I've been waiting for you! Where you been?" And then, he might throw his arm around me; give me a hug and chuckle. He might say, "Lots of folks here waiting for you. It's a welcome home party…just for you!"

I had a dream thirty years ago just after my mother died. This person came to me in the dream. He was of indeterminate age, not young but not old either. He put his arm around me and comforted me. He said, "It's going to be OK," and I felt a love I had here-to-for experienced. This person was a contemporary, a friend, and exhibited a kindness I had not felt in my life. When I woke up, I thought, "Oh, how I wish this person would come back, be in my life and be my friend." Little did I know!

Yes, I think God laughs. I'm not there yet but I will probably be there before you…..and when you get there, I'll be waiting. God will be there too with a smile, a hug and I suspect a chuckle. He'll no doubt say, "Hey dude, I've been waiting for you! Where you been? It's a welcome home party… just for you!"

The story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
