image for Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid, But ... Don't leave earth without them!

...Apparently they DO wear sneakers.

This was confirmed recently when a 1500-year-old mummy was found in Mongolia wearing what looked like -- drumroll, please -- sneakers. Yikes! Guess you're never too old to wear sneakers!

The find was a boon to sneaker manufacturers who seized upon the advertising possibilities.

They immediately went to work on spirited slogans, such as:

-- Treats for your feet that even death can't defeat.

-- Our sneakers last a lifetime and beyond.

-- Like the Eveready Bunny, our sneakers never give up.

-- Always be prepared for a run...in this life AND in the next.

Then there are the wise words of author Martina Boone: "It doesn't matter how great your shoes are if you don't accomplish anything in them."

So true.
