image for Prime Minister steps on tongue, silence follows Thanks to the Iron Dome Defense System very few rockets are getting through

The Prime Minister addressed reporters, cameras flashed, the room listened seriously.

With rockets raining down the Iron Dome Missile Defense System is nearly perfect in dealing with the problem.

Thanks to this System very few rockets are getting through.

They are not a serious threat.

A pause, also known as a pregnant moment, occurred.

Silence in the news room.

Eyes looked up.

What is he saying? insinuated from the listening faces.

The Prime Minister's tongue twitched.

They are not a serious threat?

He continued.

But the threat from the rockets must be countered. There have been some injuries, not many, but there could be more.

Besides, there is the injury of insult alone.

These flimsy incendiaries against our F-16s, drones, Hellfire missiles, artillery, gunships?

Did Hamas expect to draw us into an attack, punishing this impertinence, smacking it down, as with clubbing an infant into submission?

No.

A response, a stern and compassionate response, is necessary, and that's what we are doing.

Listen well, and do not contradict.

Canceling flights from the United States to Israel's Ben Gurion International Airport?

Mr. Obama misjudged, if not untowardly presumed.

As though Israel should be deprived of visitors, whether business or tourist.

Of course that ban is now lifted. That action was entirely unwarranted, from a single rocket falling a mile away from the airport.

There is a second airport, the Uvda Airport, which could be used.

Let the world come to Israel. Everyone is quite safe from a few flimsy rockets.

Besides there is the Iron Dome Missile Defense System.

Has Mr. Obama heard about this?

Mr. Obama's own daughters, his wife, would be quite safe in the chaperoning skies above Ben Gurion International Airport.

Again silence in the news room.

The look in reporters' eyes was hard and prolonged.

Everyone is quite safe from a few flimsy rockets?

The Prime Minister's right eye gleamed, jaw moving sideways.

No.

Quite safe, despite The Devil Attackers of Hamas. The world should trust Israeli Defense to deal with the problem.

Gaza itself is another matter, of old insult and rancor. But not proportionally a threat to visitors, no more than a coyote slinking out of the desert.

It is remote enough. By now it is quite safe.

And being dealt with, as indicated by that wall of dust over there, that roaring sound in the distance.

Fourteen seconds of silence passed--fourteen, somebody counted them

The silence permitted two coughs, thumbs moved on a pad.

The Prime Minister turned and left the podium.

The story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
