Who would have thought? Spongebob and his undersea friends even more looney than the classic WB looney tunes (Bugs Bunny and Friends). Well maybe just every viewer form the age of one to one hundred and beyond.
However, not very people would see a bunch of happy go lucky cartoon characters as sufferers from one or more mental disorders.
Take a closer look at just some of the characters and then tell me, do you agree or disagree.
- Sandy Cheeks - fits the profile of a recovered victim of "squirrel abuse and neglect"; even though it's normal for squirrels to get "put out" much sooner than humans, she still feels the pain of parental neglect and really wants her "mama" and "papa" to praise her work. I mean, why else would a squirrel live in a tree dome underwater and work as a scientist?
Spongebob Squarepants - He's a sweet boy! the bad news is that behind the scenes, Spongebob also feels victimized by his parents and he suffers from bipolar depression-that explains why he is seems happy go lucky, and then falls into deep depressive stages on show.
Squidward - most people would think he suffers from schizophrenia; I don't know about that but I do know that he suffers from major depression due to his broken hopes and dreams and if he don't go to a "real" shrink pretty soon, then he will qualify as a candidate for DID (multiple personalities)
Mr. Krabs - suffers from clinical depression; compensates by running the Kusty Krab like a tight ship disguised as paid volunteerism, in other words, Mr. Krab's mental condition is an excuse for him to be a slave driver while making his labor force "content and comfortable"
Plankton - this microscopic terrorist obviously suffers from anti-social personality disorder, he is a genocidal maniac who puts you in the mind of a one celled Adolf Hitler-however; it is to the advantage of Bikini Bottom residents that he is just an evil protozoa.
Patrick Star - he is a "Special Needs" starfish. he is obvious mentally retarded and, while growing up, the school system failed him miserably.
