So today is the first day of the All-Essex Final, between 'Rocket' Ronnie O'Sullivan and Ali Carter 'the unstoppable snooker machine'.
Ronnie reached the final beating three previous world champs in the first three rounds - Peter Ebdon 10-4, Mark Williams 13-6, and Neil Roberston 13-10. In the semi-final he beat Matthew Stevens 17-10.
After a convincing 10-2 win over Mark Davis in the first round, Carter had to knuckle down and grind results against Judd Trump (13-12) which went into verbal extra-time on twitter(!), Jamie Jones 13-11 in the quarter, and Stephen Maguire 17-12 in the semi.
Ali has never beaten Ronnie in 11 previous meetings and his only previous world final was in 2008, when he also faced O'Sullivan - who ran out 18-8 winner that day.
However, in 2008 there was no reality tv show called 'The Only Way Is Essex' so expect plenty or 'reem' comments when the players hit a century and the after-party for this final to be held in Faces nightclub in Gants Hill!
Ronnie got off to the better start, with a 57 and 117 to lead 2-0 but Ali steadies the ship with an 84, and then draws level at 2-2. Ronnie recomposes himself to edge the afternoon shift 5-3.
Drama backstage at the start of the second session. Ronnie looks flustered as he enters the arena - was he having an Essex 'vajazzle' in his dressing room?
It doesn't affect his form on the table though, as mistakes creep in from Ali and Ronnie increases his lead to 10-6 overnight. Join me tomorrow for the last time as we discover which 'Essexonian' will carry off the Trophy and £250,000 prize money!
