My Senior Moments This Week

Monday 19th March 2012:

* Went on the 99p shop, carefully limiting my spending to under £5. 1x Air spray, 2x bird seed, 1x Nougat (for the girls at the blood centre on Tuesday) and 1x Disinfectant. When she asked me for £7.98, I foolishly paid her then realised something was amiss! I did not leave the checkout, but while waiting for hwer to serve other customers, I checked and found I'd been charged for three things I had not bought.

I waited politely for a break, then told her of my concerns asking her what these Mouth wash items were she'd charged me for.

"Listerine!" she said sneeringly.

"I haven't bought any Listerine!"

"I just put through what was in your basket!"

"There was no three bottles of Listerine! and showed her my open bag with the things I had bought.

"You'll have t'wait while I call the manager, he'll sort you out!"

He came, and I explained everything to him, and he passed me onto a supervisor, who gave me such a look of contempt, I thought she ought to be representing us in the Olympic Utter Contempt look giving competition!

She grunted and wandered off to another til, then begrudgingly threw the money at me saying: "You'll have to sign this refund slip!"

I signed the refund slip, and pocketed the cash.

Off she went in a huff!

No apologise or acceptance that an error had occurred from any of the staff.

So, pissed off, but meekly I moved on.

* Had a tin of Chicken & Veg stew with some bread and a cuppa, fell asleep, woke up a few hours later to find I'd left the heat on under the empty saucepan.

* Checked online diary for times of Fridays appointments at the QMC against the letterheads - and realised they were for Friday 30th, not Friday 24th!

* Realised I'd missed me evening medications - bother it!

Tuesday 20th March 2012:

* Up early, bash at the Spoof I thought - but could I get an internet connection? No! Rebooted the BT hub, no luck. Turned everything off, restarted again, no luck. Went to the WC, returned and did problem search - it told me all was well with the connection? Started laptop again, all working now?

* Made sure I'd got everything needed for visit for INR level tests. Back home by 1100hrs, found door unlocked, and started on Spoof again.

Wednesday 21st March 2012:

* Spur of the moent thing today - got the bus to Derby, to take a look at the Duckworth Square shopping centre i used to work at many years ago. It is now pile of rubble awaiting something to be built on it!

* Got home, started to do a bit on the Spoof... as the pan of soup I was warming gently congealed and coagulate with the saucepan.

* Searched in vain to try and find my hearing-aid-decoker kit.

Thursday 22nd March 2012:

* No Senior Moments to report today, unless of course, had one occurred that had taken affect at a later time, that my limited observational and memory cells had missed, by which time I would have become aware of its happening in which case it may be recorded elsewhere in this log, if I remember it. But I was busy doing Zodiac for the Spoof! (I think)]

* Oh yes, searched in vain to try and find my hearing-aid-decoker kit.

Friday 23rd March 2012:

* Fell asleep and missed me evening medications. Again!

* Hobbled to supermarket (Asda) to get some exercise and cheap fodder. En-route I stopped off in the park and had a walk around the lake, feeding the pigeons as I did so. A park attendant (I assume) told me to stop doing so, as it is no longer allowed, asking if I'd seen the sign at the gate.

I left, walked home. Decided I felt hungry, then realised I'd not gone to Asda!

* Still can't find me hearing-aid-decoker kit.

Saturday 24th March 2012:

* Hobbled to Asda to get some bits. Saw they had some Chicken Dinners (Smart-Price old label) at only £1 each, so I got one to try.

* Put the dinner in oven, and fell asleep. The smoke alerted my next door neighbour, who said as I opened the back door for the fumes to clear, he was about to call the fire-brigade.

* Still can't find me hearing-aid-decoker kit.

Sunday 25th March 2012:

* Chest pains bad, got up at 0100hrs, started finishing off the Zodiac Spoofs.

* On the first of me frequent trips up to the WC, I realised I'd left the heater on in the bathroom - I can't even remember putting it on?

* Tripped on stairs coming down, toe now giving me some pain... well why do things by halves?

* Still can't find me hearing-aid-decoker kit, on the point of giving up looking now!
