image for February 2, 1847: First Victim of Donner Party Dies Don't eat me! I'm still upright!

The first victim of the Donner Party died on this date. Her name, Hondo Thwaite, 26 years old, was discovered cold, stiff, and dead.

The remaining 87 starving members of the ill-fated expedition to California then had to decide what to do with Ms. Thwaite's remains.

Forty voted for a "Hondo Bouillabaise".
Twenty voted for a "Hondo Thwaite Barbecue festival.
Fifteen voted to saute' her with white wine and chicken stock.
Ten voted to add her to a pasta primavera.
Two voted to stick her on a wooden stick alternating her with tomatoes, carrots, and onions as kind of a Donner Shish-Ka-Bob.

Originally, the majority wanted to have Hondo Sushi but didn't want to wait until Ms. Thwaite thawed out.

The story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
