I guess that President Obama decided that fickle Americans won't be seeing a ticker-tape parade in New York City celebrating our heroes returning from the nine year old campaign in Iraq. And he never said 'well done' and he never said 'we won'.
It won't be the first time that warriors coming back home from an unpopular war were deemed unworthy of a parade. Vietnam war veterans invited ridicule if they wore their uniform in a public place. That was Nixon's war and this was W's war; both equally despised by those who self-appoint themselves as hypocrites.
But I will leave it for someone else to express this more eloquently than myself:
For it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "Chuck him out, the brute!"
But it's "Saviour of 'is country" when the guns begin to shoot;
An' it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' anything you please;
An' Tommy ain't a bloomin' fool -- you bet that Tommy sees!
