image for Midsomer Murders Not Crazy Enough: Let The Dog In! Midsomer's real star!

Millions of fans woke up this morning wondering just what had gone wrong with their favourite TV detective show.

The latest episode of Midsomer Murders had plenty of ingredients for a classic - teenage sex, nuns, stolen trousers and stolen silver, a spoiled brat, a rotten Irish accent and a former Carry On starlet.

But it failed to deliver.

Not least because the entire two-hour programme threw up just two murders - neither of which was at all bizarre.

We were, however, shown Mrs Barnaby's headmistress's ability to exercise authority over sixth-formers. But where the previous Inspector Barnaby often relied on his missus to be central to a case, the new Mrs B told her husband to shut up while she got on with homework.

The viewing public knew that the Barnabys' Jack Russell terrier Sykes had all the answers. As usual, he wasn't consulted - just unceremoniously shoved off the sofa.

Note to the producers - this dog is a star: you obviously saw him as Harvey in the TV ads for Thinkbox TV advertising. Use him in Midsomer!

Note: The Carry On starlet was Rosalind Knight featuring as wheelchair-bound Mother Jerome. Who can forget prim school inspector Felicity Wheeler letting her hair down in Carry On Teacher? Or student nurse Nightingale in CO Doctor? Phwoar!

The story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
