It's not over 'til the fat lady sings, but there are fears she may have already warbled the death notes for ITV's reality show Popstar to Operastar after ratings halved in just four weeks.
Popstar was watched by 6.3 million viewers when its second season launched four weeks ago in an 8pm Saturday slot. But by Sunday this had fallen to just 2.9 million.
It was trounced by BBC1's Countryfile and Top Gear on BBC2 - both got almost five million viewers each.
The show is presented by Myleene Klass and features voice coaches Katherine Jenkins and tenor Rolando Villazon.
An insider revealed: "Things have gone rapidly downhill... it may be that the end of this series becomes a natural end for the format."
The news was welcomed by the murky television vigilante organisation, TV Repair Man.
"So, a pointless soi-disant reality show bombs in the ratings war. Hallelujah! Replace it with a good drama or vibrant, new, orginal game show,
"TV Repair Man will miss the Klass and Jenkins women, though. They are truly fit as butchers' dogs!"
