Carol Spritzer is launching the Isle of Wight News 'Pride of The Isle Awards 2011' nominations appeal, in partnership with Littleworths.web.
Each year she gets teary when she sees the winners and listens to their stories. This year will be no different.
Spoofers have nominated Mark Lowton, owner/administrator of The Spoof online newspaper, for an award.
Carol said, "....we want you to tell us about ordinary people who have shown extraordinary courage, dedication and selflessness. Often nominees live on the mainland but nominations ARE accepted if the nominee is in some way, shape or form, connected to The Isle of Wight."
Spoofers who have nominated Mark for the award say that he fits perfectly into ALL catagories mentioned above as he single-handedly runs the online newspaper which contains many articles, on a regular basis, featuring stories from The Isle of Wight News.
Carol is reported to have said, on seeing a photograph of Mark, "Ooh! He looks quite the little hottie!"
Apparently, at the dinner the night before the awards the winners meet each other for the first time. After hearing each others stories they can be heard saying,
"Oh I don't know what I'm doing here - I don't deserve to be here", as they are amazed by each other's stories.
Spoofers said that Mark Lowton will NOT be so humble WHEN (not IF)he meets other winners at the dinner.
One female spoofer said,
"Mark is more likely to say: 'Hell YES I deserve an award after all the 'tish tosh' I put up with on a daily basis from some of those eccentic 'writers' some of whom have egos as big as the London Eye.' because Mark is not backwards in coming forward."
Spoof writers who have not yet sent in their nomination are encouraged to do so as soon as possible.
Do not forget to mention to Mark, when he wins, that Pride of The Isle of Wight Awards are NOT just awarded to gay people although some of the winners 'may belong to that category'.
