MELBOURNE, Australia - Miley Cyrus had just finished singing the last two words of her song "The Climb" when an over-exuberant fan jumped on stage and hugged the songstress from behind.
The fan who was later identified as Matilda Spanferkel, 27, was quickly kicked by one of Miley's security guards and eyewitnesses stated that Spanferkel ended up out on the third row.
Arena security approached the excited fan and led her away in handcuffs and ankle chains. They had also duct taped her mouth and ears as a precautionary measure.
Miss Spanferkel was reportedly taken to the Melbourne city jail where she was photographed, finger-printed, and had a urine sample taken.
Australian concert policy dictates that these measures be taken ever since the unfortunate 2001 incident at Sydney's Hippity Hopping Kangaroo Coliseum when a fan jumped onto the stage and tried to attack country music artist Toby Keith.
Well Keith, who is quite a tough hombre hit the fan with his guitar sending him reeling into the bass player who then hit him with his bass guitar and sent him flying onto the keyboard player who then hit him with the organ knocking him clear out into the fifth row.
It turned out that the fan was related to the president of Australia and country music performers were banned from performing in the land of down under for ten years.
The ban was recently lifted and the first country artist to perform was Reba McEntire who sad to say was booed off the stage in Brisbane.
McEntire was not booed off the stage because of her singing but because of what she was wearing which was described as an outfit made out of burlap that Ma Kettle would probably not even wear.
Reba later said that she had worn the dress on a dare from fellow country music artist and Aussie native Keith Urban.
Keith reportedly told a reporter for The Melbourne Morning Koala Gazette that he has never spoken to Reba McEntire and had no idea what the flaky Oklahoma soonerette was going on about.
Meanwhile Miley Cyrus, although a little shaken up, said that she would continue with her Australian tour but pointed out that she plans to perform with a microphone in her left hand and a taser gun in her right hand.
