Coronation Street's Dev Alahan, played by Jimmi Harkishin,is to be written out of the popular soap for the next six months.

"This is no holiday,"says Jimmi."People may think I'll be putting my feet up but I'm going to be a very busy boy."

First up Jimmi is off to India to appear in the popular TV soap Curry Nation Street."I am very excited about this.I have always been a Curry fan long before I was a Corrie fan.I shall be appearing as local karaoke champion Gerupta Singh."

Jimmi will be in the show for three months, then it's off to Hollywood to appear in Arnold Schwarzenegger's new film The Turban Hater."I shall be playing a sikh who is being stalked by a serial killer. It's scary stuff but Arnie manages to save me in a tense finale."

Corrie fans will be pleased to know Jimmi hopes to be back on the street for Christmas, when he and a host of regulars will be killed off by an explosion in The Rovers."
