In exclusive film news just in, cuddly Jungle winner Christopher Biggins has been chosen to play Bagpuss in the Hollywood remake of the British 70's classic.
Francis Ford Coppola, legendary Hollywood director has spoken to film fans and reporters at an exclusive press conference.
'I've been an admirer of 'Big' for a long time, and waiting to find a suitable role for his undoubted talent. I almost cast him as The Godfather before I handed the role to Marlon (Brando) but he was just a little too young for the role, but he was so good in auditions I never forgot him. The Bagpuss role is heaven sent for him, the big saggy catpuss. '
Speaking from The Shaftsbury Theatre, in Nelson, Lancashire, where he's just finished a record breaking stint as Widow Twanky, Biggins said, 'Obviously I'm delighted. Franky kept his word like he said and I'm finally going to Hollywood. I can't wait. '
Other stars who've already signed up for the project include Brad Pitt who plays Gabriel The Frog, his wife will play Madeleine the doll, and in a real scoop, their kids will play the mice from the mouse organ!
Coppola admitted it had been a huge bonus getting all the Pitt's involved and revealed he was hoping to seal Leonardo Di Caprio as the mechanical mouse organ.
Filming begins shortly.
