DALLAS - Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has just announced that Super Bowl XLV (45), which is being held at the $1.2 billion Cowboy Stadium, has signed teen singing sensations Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez to sing the National Anthem before the opening kickoff on February 6.
Word is that the two participating NFL teams each wanted someone else. The Pittsburgh Steelers had voted for Pennsylvania natives Christina Aguilera and Taylor Swift.
The Green Bay Packers had requested that Wisconsinites Frank Caliendo and Bob Uecker sing the Star Bangled Banner.
Jerry Jones, who always gets his way, said that he had asked his grandchildren who they wanted and that they all agreed on Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez.
So Jones said that it would be Bieber and Gomez. He did point out that his attorneys had helped both recording artists get out of contractual concert contracts that they had already signed to perform on that day.
Justin was to have performed at The Frozen Fauna Auditorium in Duluth, Minnesota, and Selena had been booked to perform at The China Closet Arena in Shanghai, China.
Word is that both the Packers team and the Steelers team players are especially disappointed and quite upset that Jones did not respect their wishes.
Jerry Jones, who has said on several occasions that he is the "Undisputed King of Texas" simply replied, "Y'all go ahead and pooch out them trout snout-looking lips and pout like spoiled brats, but I have made a promise to my grandkids and that's that.
And if y'all piss me off then I reckon that I'll just make arrangements to get the two teams that y'all beat, the New England Patriots and the New York Jets to take your damn place."
Yes, there is no doubt in the minds of many that King Jerry Jones most definitely carries more clout that North Korea's Kim Jong Il, Venezuela's Hugo Chavez, and even England's Queen Elizabeth.
