Welsh singer Tom Jones has been rushed to hospital for checks after he failed to mention any anecdotes about Elvis Presley in an interview.
Alarms were raised by a concerned interviewer regarding the state of Jones' mental condition when the singer discussed his new album and career without a single tenuous connection with himself and "The King".
"I was waiting for what seemed an eternity" said interviewer Kris Myles, "usually he likes to mention the fact that he had met Elvis in Las Vegas and momentarily breathed the same air within the first 15 seconds of any interview. Naturally i became uneasy and worried when these mundane incidents were not recounted".
Myles revealed he was so concerned by the turn of events that he even attempted to prompt Jones into recalling a favourite story in which both he and Elvis used the same urinals at the MGM Grand. However, much to Myles dismay, Jones told him he was here to talk about his own work and not "discuss feeble and often fabricated incidents told and embellished by myself to enjoy some of the reflected glory associated with such a legend".
However, it is understood that Jones has made a complete recovery after it was discovered the ageing singer had been seen regaling nurses with a tale about once using the same dressing room as Presley's support act.
